Since 1987 his work is particularly focused on the care of MND patients. More than 100 ALS patients are followed each year by an interdisciplinary team in the ALS Clinic, which is a National referral center. His research interests are principally in clinical, genetic and neurophysiological fields. He studied the impact of new procedures, such as gastrostomy and non-invasive ventilation, on quality of life and survival in ALS patients. During these years he carried out single-center and multi-center clinical trial studying new molecules, He carried out as coordinator or principal investigator research projects granted by the Italian Ministry of Health, the European Community and other national and international Foundations.
