Angelo Maravita

Angelo Maravita, MD, Associate Professor of Psychobiology at the University of Milano-Bicocca, MD at University of Milano, Neurology training in Parma, PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Verona, senior fellowship at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, UCL, London. My research interests focus on several aspects of body representation, body awareness, multisensory integration of bodily and extrapersonal signals.  I am interested in the cognitive aspects of pain anticipation and processing, the effects of brain damage, defective awareness and peripheral damage on the perception of noxious stimuli and the anticipation of painful stimuli in the space around us.

Finally, I seek for the cognitive aspects of pain processing and the modulation of chronic pain in neurologically unimpaired humans and neurological patients using peripheral as well as central stimulation strategies.
